Cheap Wedding Invitations: How Much Do Wedding Invitations Cost?

So you’re getting married, you’ve picked a date and venue. Now it’s time to send out invitations, so let’s talk about how much you should expect to spend. This is a guide on getting cheap wedding invitations but still looking as classy as ever.

When it comes to wedding invitations you’ll have a lot of options to choose from. In the end, the overall price you’ll pay will depend on your guest list. But usually, you can expect to pay somewhere between $0.75 to $4.00 per wedding invitation.

This gives us an average of $2.37 per invitation. That average price is what you would typically pay if you go online and order from a website. You should be able to find comparable pricing to that, even if you choose to go the route of hiring a local business that will work with you personally to create your custom invitations.

In the rest of this article, I’ll go over some of the best options you have when it comes to wedding invitations. Also, if you’re on a budget and you stay until the end I’ll give you the #1 option I’ve found to save $$$ with beautiful but cheap wedding invitations!

Wedding Invitation Websites

This is the most common option chosen by brides because it’s so convenient. The ordering process is as easy as, find a design that you like, input your information in the corresponding boxes that are shown for that invitation and place your order.

Minted

www.mint.com

Minted.com offers an abundance of helpful options for your wedding. The pre-designed invitations they offer fall in ranges between $2.00 to $4.00. They also have a section for brides on a budget that allows you to get invitations for as low as $1.17 per invitation. If that’s not enough these budget invitations are folded and don’t require an envelope and also come with an RSVP card that fits inside the invitation.

After selecting one of their beautifully designed wedding invitations you will go through the personalization of the cards. There you will see the free addressing service that they offer. You can choose from different fonts and styles. This free addon comes in very handy, especially if you have a larger guest list.

Some of the benefits that make Minted.com a good option for wedding invitations are as follows.

  • Fair pricing
  • Many design options
  • Offering complimentary cards such as RSVP’s, Save The Dates, Place Cards, etc.
  • Free addressing service
  • Beautiful designs

Shutterfly

Shutterfly.com has a ton of designs to choose from when it comes to wedding invitations. Another great feature of Shutterfly is its pricing. You will find invitations here in a range from $0.75 to $3.00.

When it comes to the personalization of your wedding invitations, Shutterfly is one of the easiest to use. Sometimes you will find that other sites are a lot more confusing when it comes to personalizing the design. Simply select an invitation, then the number of cards needed and hit personalize. You will be prompted to input your information and click next. All the fields will be updated and you can edit the font size and style if you would like.

They also offer an envelope addressing service, but it comes at a price of $0.20 per invitation. But with a price as low as $0.75 this can still leave you at under $1.00 per invitation. You can even have them mail your wedding invitations for $0.55 per card.

Some of the benefits that make Shutterfly.com a good option for wedding invitations are as follows.

  • Fair pricing
  • Easy to use section to personalize invitations
  • Addressing and mailing service
  • Many design options

Zazzle

Zazzle.com offers wedding invitations from price ranges between $0.95 to $2.00. They may be cheaper than some of the other sites listed here but they still produce a very highquality print.

However, if you purchase your envelopes through Zazzle you’ll find that they can cost up to $0.70 per envelope. But, this only brings your total cost back up to a more average price.

Some of the benefits that make Zazzle.com a good option for wedding invitations are as follows.

  • Fair price points
  • Beautiful designs
  • Easy to use section to personalize invitations
  • Offering complimentary cards such as RSVP’s, Save The Dates, Place Cards, etc.

Basic Invite

BasicInvite.com made the list because it has so many different designs to choose from. Their prices range from $1.19 to $4.00 which gives them a higher average price for wedding invitations. But, they offer a free envelope addressing service that can save you time especially if you have a larger guest list.

One very unique feature that Basic Invite offers are real wood invitations! I would say that the ordering / personalizing process is a little more confusing than some of the other sites though.

Some of the benefits that make BasicInvite.com a good option for wedding invitations are as follows.

  • Free addressing service
  • Custom cardstock options
  • Many design options

Canva

cheap wedding invitations

My promise of cheap wedding invitations is here with Canva.com. Canva is an easy to use web design platform, meaning it’s not a wedding site but a design site that has pre-designed wedding invitation templates.

When ordering prints if you choose to format as a wedding invitation you should be around $0.50 to $0.75 per invitation if you choose the best paper, with a gloss finish, and doublesided printing. But if you are on a tight budget and would like to spend less than that there is a trick to getting the price down even more!

During the order process if you select postcard formatting you will see a significant drop in price. Again with the best paper, gloss finish, and double-sided printing you should be around $0.25 per invitation! Also, if you’re wondering, postcard size is an acceptable size for wedding invitations.

My suggestion is once you’ve selected your pre-designed template, go right to order and resize to a postcard format if you would like to do this. That way if there are any areas that get moved because of resizing you can address them before you personalize the invitation.

I have taken the liberty of creating wedding invitation templates for you inside what we’re calling Operation Wedding Survival. There’s also a video to walk you through the process of personalizing the invitations. Also included in Operation Wedding Survival is a wedding budget spreadsheet and a 1-year wedding checklist. I’ll list the link below and yes, it’s completely free.

Total Wedding Invitation Price

Let’s break down a total average of what you can expect to pay for all of your invitations if you choose to go with an online order purchase. For the sake of this average, we’ll say that we’re calculating based on a guest list of 200 people.

  1. Invitations at $2.37= $474.00
  2. RSVP’s at $1.50 = $300.00
  3. Save The Dates at $2.00 = $400.00
  4. Envelopes For Save The Dates, Invites, & Thank You’s at $0.20 = $120.00
  5. Stamps For Save The Dates, Invites, & Thank You’s at $0.50 = $300.00
  6. Place Cards at $1.50 = $300.00
  7. Thank You Cards at $1.05 = $210.00

Total average price = $2,104
Again, this is based on a guest list of 200 people and based on you buying all of these items. Now you can see how fast every little thing adds up when it comes to your wedding invitations.

Total Wedding Invitation Price With Canva

  1. Invitations at $0.57= $114.00
  2. RSVP’s at $0.25 = $50.00
  3. Save The Dates at $.028 = $50.00
  4. Envelopes For Save The Dates, Invites, & Thank You’s at $0.15 = $90.00
  5. Stamps at $0.50 = $300.00
  6. Place Cards at $0.14 = $28.00
  7. Thank You Cards at $0.28 = $56.00

Total average price = $688.00
Now those are staggering numbers and they are both accurate averages based on what the different sites are charging. Canva is a bit more difficult to use when it comes to personalizing your invitations. But well worth it if you are looking for cheap wedding invitations and have a budget that you are trying to stay within. Also, as I mentioned earlier there is a how-to video inside Operation Wedding Survival that shows you how to use Canva.

Conclusion

Whichever option that you decide on will depend on the type of design that you want to combine with your budget and decision of how much work you want to put into it. You will ultimately have to choose the best option that fits your needs. I just hope that this article helps you in your decision-making process and answers any questions that you might have regarding cheap wedding invitations.
